Wallace "Wuz" Jeffe - Owner, Ornamental Iron

I was born and raised around the steel mills of the Ohio Valley. That is where I got my first "taste" (literally) of iron and steel. Having grown up around "men of steel" and working in a plant myself, I received personal, first hand experience of the wonders of metals.

Not satisfied with just making the product, I pursued training and received a degree in combination welding.

I then went to work for MMI Inc. in Frederick Md., one of the largest miscellaneous metal shops in the country, where I worked for ten years and left as one of their top fabricators.

Following my tenure there, I worked for Don Hade, one of the best blacksmiths and fabricators I had ever seen. For 7 years, we did restoration around Frederick, Baltimore and Gettysburg. He taught me just about everything he knew before he was called to meet the Almighty.

After working with Don, I got the urge to come back home to my roots in the Ohio Valley and went to work at Ohio Valley Steel in 1995. I became head of their miscellaneous metals department and worked on railings, gates and stairways in industrial applications, which gave me more experience with a wide range of metals.

I opened Ornamental Iron full time in 2001 and have been busy with railings, gates, stairs and various art projects ever since. I realized that I was one of the lucky ones in life - I could make a living by doing something I am passionate about. Making a living with a "hobby", it's a great life if you can get it!

I am willing to travel and have traveled to job sites around the US, Canada and the United Kingdom (at customer's expense of course!)

If your building a new home or restoring an ancient work of art, then I believe that I am the person your looking for.

Thanks so much for visiting my site (another hobby) and have a great day,
